Sales Representative – Pharma Products

The purpose of this position is to make direct contact with physicians and other healthcare providers to introduce and promote products. The sales representative also provides approved information for physicians and other healthcare providers on correct product usage.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Contact physicians by phone and in person to promote products.
  • Distribute product samples and marketing literature to physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Generate sales contact opportunities by calling private physician offices and healthcare organizations.
  • Follow-up with physicians to gather feedback and questions on experience with products.
  • Provide approved information to physicians on products, i.e. proper medical usage, dosage amounts, side effects, etc.
  • Ensure that pharmacies are adequately stocked with products and distribute ordering information.
  • Provide feedback to Managers and product managers on customers' requests, response to promotion, and product access.
  • Maintain and develop company’s corporate image and reputation, and protect and develop the company's brands via suitable PR activities.
  • Plan and carry out direct marketing activities to agreed marketing strategy, budgets, sales volumes, values, product mix and timescales.
  • Discuss characteristics and clinical studies pertaining to pharmaceutical products with physicians & hospital pharmacists.
  • Respond to and follow up sales inquiries, sales orders.
  • Establish and Maintain Interpersonal Relationships
  • Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with customers, and maintaining them over time. Follow up on accounts.
  • Carry out market research, competitor and customer surveys.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree B. Pharm (preferably) or science degree (Biochemistry, chemistry, biology)
  • Character: Strong personality - selling skills - People oriented - Good communication skills.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical sales (2 years).

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Industry Knowledge - working knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and the prescription drug distribution process (e.g. medical referrals, managed care systems, etc.)
  • Product Knowledge - complete understanding of the medical/therapeutic usage of the products.
  • Sales Techniques - complete understanding of sales methods, tools and concepts
  • Communication - Ability to communicate ideas, data both verbally and written, in a persuasive and appropriate manner.
  • Relationship Building - Ability to make and maintain client and prospect contact with physicians.
  • Organization - Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of appointments, sales calls, follow-up calls, samples, etc.
  • Time Management - Ability to set priorities and workflow to accomplish day to day tasks in a timely manner.
